You build the hull and the deck. Every other composite part on the boat still needs a mold: the helm and dash, the consoles, the seatbacks, the hatches and lockers, the trim. Traditionally each one is its own plug-and-mold job, built up and faired by hand over weeks. We print the mold near-net off your part surface, then machine the face to a clean, sealed tool. Small to medium parts, quick tooling, and one local shop instead of a queue of them.

The pellet extruder lays the mold down oversized by a few millimetres, then the CNC side machines the working face to a clean tool surface rather than a stepped print.

Common questions
- Can you make our hull or deck molds?
- No. Hull and deck tooling runs bigger than we take on. We focus on the small to medium composite parts, the consoles, dashes, seatbacks, hatches, and trim, and the molds that make them. If a part is roughly console or seat sized rather than hull sized, it is in range.
- We build our own boats. Which parts can you tool for us?
- The composite parts around the hull: helm consoles and dashes, seatbacks and seating, hatches and lockers, steps, and trim. Send the surface data for the part and we will print and machine the mold, or the part itself for short runs.
- Do you make the mold, the part, or both?
- Either. We print a mold near-net off your part surface and machine the face for you to lay up from, or we print and machine the part directly when the volume does not justify a mold. Tell us where in the process you are and we will quote the right piece.
- Our boat is out of production and a part mold is gone. Can you help?
- Often, yes. From a scan or surface data of an existing part, we can print and machine a new mold so a discontinued console, dash, or hatch can be tooled again. Send what you have and we will tell you what is workable.
- What is the surface like on a printed part mold?
- The working face is CNC machined after printing, so it is a machined surface rather than a stepped print. Final surface prep for your gelcoat or layup process is confirmed with the quote.
- What is the lead time?
- It depends on the part and how many molds you need. Printing near-net then machining to tolerance is what keeps part tooling to days instead of the weeks a hand-faired plug takes.
